I was thinking about grade 4 as well.
Excursion to Ballarat is great idea.
In the Excursion they could;
look for the gold experience.
Observe and taking photos of People, building and cloth.
Making a poster about what they saw and history about gold rush after coming back form excursion with small group.
Presentaion.
we could look at old Australia and now days Australia and make a poster (?) about how it changed now and olden days...
But your ideas are too good and can't think more than that....Well done!
